Bullying Presentations (May '10)
MSA-San Diego students had a presentation on bullying put on by Harmonium counseling program. The 3rd Annual Comet Cook-off was a delicious success

MSA Parents,
Unfortunately in recent weeks, there has been an increase in incidents involving inappropriate behavior on campus, especially bullying. The administration and staff as a whole have had several lengthy discussions regarding this matter. MSA has always placed an extremely high emphasis on maintaining a safe campus and providing the students with information and skills to support strong character development. While the vast majority of our students conduct themselves admirably and appropriately on a daily basis, with the increase in incidences, here are some measures being taken in a continued attempt to reduce the behaviors mentioned above:
  • Bullying presentation put on by our Harmonium Counseling program
  • Displaying anti-bullying posters throughout the campus
  • Providing the students with an “anonymous incident reporting box” to avoid being labeled a “tattle tale” or “snitch”
  • Implementing a poster board in the lunch area where students can sign a “pledge to take a stand against bullying.”
  • Support from our school counselor working with victims of bullying and students who bully others
  • Frequent reminders from the administration and staff regarding consequences for those who bully or fight on campus
Aside from just informing you of what is being done by the school staff, this message is also an attempt to ask that you all continue to emphasize the importance of taking a stand against bullying and not participating in inappropriate behavior on campus. The phenomenon that is bullying in schools is very much a reality, and it takes a collective effort from the staff, students, parents and community members to help reduce the amount of incidents that occur on a particular campus. On behalf of the entire MSA family, thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and more importantly, thank you for doing your part in helping to make MSA a safe and enjoyable place to be.
